artist: Bone Gunn
web address: www.bonegunn.com
bio: while originally a troupe of gnome-gypsies, Bone Gunn was given their name by a rare one-eyed fish with luminescent scales. Introduced to HGH by professional German Batball players, the group slowly grew to normal human size and decided to attack their dream to be on the Oprah Winfrey Show the most rational way they could think of: by starting an experimental folk band.

artist: Clevis
web address: www.myspace.com/clevis
bio: "Clevis is a band stripped of all filigree. It is an orchestra without winds or strings, a jazz band minus a brass section, and a rock group sans the singer. At the core of every musical group is the rhythm section.
With just a drum-set and bass guitar, Clevis weaves through a song like a motorcycle in heavy traffic. Time signatures shift without notice, melodies stop and begin, and tempos swerve. The music accelerates and then changes direction.
Clevis sounds like a bigger ensemble than it is"-WMUC
"Really intricate pieces with lots of atmosphere and also groove"-WBAR

artist: Fit for Rivals
web address: www.fitforrivals.com
bio: Hi, we’re Fit For Rivals. We’re a 5 piece rock band from Jacksonville, Fl in North America. Yes, that’s a girl singing. Yes, that’s the sound of rock and roll, whiskey and cigarettes. Yes, that’s the sound of your arm in a bear trap, a jaguar in a top hat and a shark with a baseball bat. We’ll leave the rest of the “how we met and how awesome we are” story to Carrot Top in our VH1 behind the music special in 20 years. Besides, bands writing about themselves in third person is lame, right? Who’s with me?!

artist: Fol Chen
web address: www.myspace.com/folchen
bio: The Story of Fol Chen:
Traffic was thick, thick, thick and Samuel Bing was unwell, strung out on the latest psychotropic fads: sleeplessness and feeling crummy. The Northern State was crawling, the usual twice-a-day funeral procession for Robert Moses. Above the overpasses, the clouds were lined with gristle. Even the horizon seemed to be sinking. So, it came just in time when Donna Donna transmitted her message over the open radio waves – a phantom broadcast from a station whose signal had long since dissolved into static. She spoke backwards for security and you could barely hear her voice between the Crazy Eddie ads, but Samuel Bing had his radio loud. He understood each word. “Initiates in the society of Fol Chen,” Donna Donna whispered, "Let’s get to it. While you sit in traffic, John Shade is busy spreading his black mischief. Here's the Screamer of the Week: 'Birds Fly' by Icicle Works.” Samuel Bing turned off his car and opened his trunk. No one was moving, so no one bothered honking. The trunk was filled with what looked like garbage, but this wasn’t just any piled crap — every object was a module in a greater, yet-to-be-created whole. Samuel Bing fished out a cassette tape and a broken ice-scraper. He inspected the sides of each, found the hidden grooves, snapped them together. He grabbed a faded Polaroid, an old paperback romance, a polyester potholder, and a pair of drugstore sunglasses. He snapped each edge to edge. He chose twelve items, then another six, and arranged all eighteen in interlocking circles that together formed a wider circle. Just to be safe, he welded the grooves with a cigarette lighter, slapped the whole thing on his back. From beneath a crusty blanket where the spare tire should have been, he pulled a wide, machete-like sword, and shoved it in his belt. Then he leapt into the air and let the currents carry him.

artist: Gizmo
web address: www.myspace.com/gizmobmore
bio:
Gizmo has been a functional group for a five years now. We mysteriously
popped up out of the ground somewhere and just started playing music in
an old airplane hanger. The rest is history. Countless others have
attempted to steal our thunder but none have yet to stop us from from
infecting our music into the minds of others. With our combination of
extremely powerful and catchy riffs mixed with melodic soaring vocals,
what's not to fall in love with. Now is the time for a band of great
calibre to make it's entry into the ears of America. Listen in, you'll
want to hear more.

artist: The Matrimonials
web address: www.myspace.com/thematrimonials
contact: thematrimonialsmusic@gmail.com
bio:
The Matrimonials are a three piece rock band from Baltimore, Maryland. The boys of the Matrimonials are all extremely well-read, industrious, and obviously Harvard material. The only reason why they didn’t go ivy league is the chromosomal disorder they all share, in which they would much rather drink and play loud pop music than read Ayn Rand and wax philosophical to girls who don’t give it up easily. The Matrimonials’ lyrics and music reflect this: a swirling lifestyle of death clearly indicative of an adolescence spent reading post-WWII American literature. Or it could all be an excuse to play loudly and hate their peers.
At this moment, the Matrimonials are watching the Real Housewives of New Jersey, trying their hardest not to give up or take mercury thermometer shots. In the wrinkled cleavage of one scantily clad mother, the Matrimonials have a mutual vision, of bringing their music as a message of salvation. Setting forth to tackle this mighty task, the boys realize that they have nothing to say, and thus, they take the mercury shot.
Or perhaps this biography is evidence that the Matrimonials do have a message? What sociopaths would send a biography describing a lifestyle of penile detachment and wildlife prostitution? Even stranger, what maniacs would send a biography saying that they described those things, but, in fact, did not? It makes one think, where can I catch the next episode of Real Housewives of New Jersey?

artist: Monteclair
web address: http://monteclair.bandcamp.com/
bio: Monteclair is a band based out of Baltimore with Greg Wellham on guitars, Steve Mangubat on bass, Artie Sanchez on vocals, and Ben Dayman on drums. They describe themselves as sounding like “vacation music”. They are incredibly precise guys who know exactly what they want out of their music and their band. Monteclair pulls from music all over the world, from mathy post-rock to world music to pop. Some of their influences are obvious, such as Mars Volta, Fang Island and the Strokes others are subtle, like 60s Motown and Yo La Tengo. Have a listen and decide for yourself.

artist: MySummer
web address: www.myspace.com/mysummer
contact: mysummer@mysummer.org
bio:
My Summer is a rock and roll act from New York. The band consists of three members: Mike, 26, who plays guitar, sings, and keyboards, Magic,
24, who plays Bass, and Joey, 26, who plays the drums. Though the band only came to be in 2005, all members were involved in previous bands
for many years before coming together for the cause of My Summer. Serious about the music, but usually found in the parking lot having a catch,
these guys are what rock and roll should be. Loud, fun music, and loud, fun times. An interesting aspect of their music is the incorporation of
keyboard loops, played by Mike, into their live show. All keyboard parts are played to a metronome, so the tightness of the act is really displayed
within their ability to be spot on to the loops. If they are coming to your town, free up a couch or two because you're going to have a blast at the
show, and have a blast afterwards hanging out with these guys.

artist: OHO
web address: www.ohomusic.com
contact: garbotzo@yahoo.com
bio:
OHO: an artistic collective of musicians and artists based in the
Baltimore, MD area who interweave sophisticated songwriting, slashing
lava-like guitarism, and muscular rhythms with stunning female vocals,
lush production, and state-of-the-art basement technology. The ensemble
has existed since 1973. Nowadays, 35 years and two radical
transformations later, they are a little more settled with an acid folk
underpinning and a womanly presence from the keyboards and vocals of
Jane Brody, Angela Lazaroni, Elise Major, and the warbling of Grace
Hearn, Mary O'Connor, Sue Ellen Sacco, and most recently Kelly G and
Liz Murphy, not to mention significant contributions from a couple
dozen OTHER PEOPLE. OHO offers rare proof that the unforgiving dragon
of rock, with its voracious appetite for youth and novelty, can be
slain by silver throats, silver hair and/or a bald pate.

artist: Pandas
web address: www.pandasdestroy.com
contact: contact@pandasdestroy.com
bio: It’s like punk, but with more musicianship. Maybe it’s actually prog, but prog that never went to Berklee. Then again, maybe it’s metal, but without all the spiky leather. Or perhaps it’s hardcore, but more Greg Ginn and less Jamey Jasta.
Regardless of all that, it’s fast, loud, techy, geeky, and strange.
Imagine a guitar-playing truck from the future colliding with a rainbow-powered robot. Imagine that their relationship is complex and murky. Imagine that the preserved corpse of Lenin is driving the truck, reanimated by the future ghost of Wil Wheaton. Imagine that the robot was built to recently-discovered blueprints bearing the signature “J. Kirby.” Pandas sound nothing like that, but it would be great if they did.
Pandas are based primarily in Lancaster PA, where snack foods are made, and the Amish get away with things that normal people would be thrown in jail for, by dint of the tourist trade.
Personnel: Jordan Hill – Drums (a-flam-flam blaaaaaaaassssst) Conor McCann- Left Guitar (joogady joogady) Mike Bull – Bass (bloog bloog blaaaagghh) Greg Park – Right Guitar (plinkity jank jank) Col Norris – Vocals (skree skree gragggg)

artist: Thunderhawk
web address: www.thunderhawkband.com
bio: In the vein of Bradsucks, Chance, and devoted to countless other talented solo basement musicians, it's an honor to (re)present Thunderhawk. From a little town called Muncie, Indiana (also home to a great podcast called The Good Beer Show, and rising stars Margot and the Nuclear So and So's) Josh Hall writes, performs, engineers, and masters dozens of musical gems full of life, honesty, quirkiness, catchy riffs, and raw talent. Gravity Wins! is his fifth album, and is available on CDBaby. The track "Style Points" is from said album, and it was NOT easy to choose a single song. So I'm also throwing in "I've Got a Bullet With Your Name On It." And on a personal note, I really believe Thunderhawk has the writing chops and talent it takes to make it in a crowded indie scene. Grab these two tracks, and judge for yourself.
